Dear Family and Friends

Posted for Sheri...

Hello Dear Family and Friends,

I figured it was time for an update and since I found a minute, I thought I should fill you all in. Wally has been home for about 14 days now under hospice care. His nurse comes once a week to check on him and replace the line to his port. Two weeks ago, he had his drainage tube to his liver removed and for some reason was craving a good ol' PP&J sandwich. He insisted on making it himself since he wanted just the right amount of peanut butter and jelly - yes, he is even a perfectionist about his PP&J's:) We quickly learned what flows easily through his stomach tube and what doesn't - PP&J's don't! He moved on to slurpees, about 3 or 4 large ones a day! Do you know how much sugary syrup is in a slurpee? He has moved on to root beer floats or milk shakes now along with a lot of juice, soda and ice water. He can consume more liquid than anyone I have ever seen. It just goes in his mouth and through his tube and into his bag so he enjoys the taste of things but doesn't get any nutrition from what he puts in his mouth. Needless to say, he has lost quite a bit of weight so I took the scale away from him so he can't weigh himself anymore! His blood pressure and heart rate are perfect but he gets dizzy standing up due to lack of nutrition.

My sister-in-law, Kim, has been here every day playing nurse. For those of you who know me, nursing would probably be my last profession - ask my kids. Kim's good at hooking him up to his IV at night and unhooking him in the morning and not panicking when we "screw up".

He is looking forward to Heaven now and I think is sometimes disappointed when he wakes up in the morning and sees me instead of Jesus! I certainly can't compete with God so I try not to take offense that he isn't overly pleased to see me like he used to be. His heart and mind are focused on eternity right now so I just try to keep him comfortable and his glass full of whatever he seems to be craving at the moment.

Thank you for your continued prayers for our family.

Love,

Sheri

2 Corinthians 5:1-8
"Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. Now it is God who has made us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. We live by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord."

Wally,
You are amazing! Your life has been and example to us all, especially to your family. You have been faithful to God's commandments in being a leader,a provider, and a protector to them. I'm sure God has already said many, many time "Well done my good, and faithful servant."

Your family will continue to be in our prayers.

Love you,

Wally,
I am praying for you daily.
I thank you for your friendship and all the kindnesses that you have bestowed upon me. I have so many fond memories of times that we have had together, and in those times there was always laughter.
Thanks for your graciousness and kindness to me. You have been a great example of a Godly husband and leader in the home for me to follow.
I will miss you, but see you again. Imagine all the cool gadgets in heaven!! The hope that we have in Christ is better than anything this world can offer.
I will see you again my brother.
I love you
Drew

Wally,

I am not going to come visit you - I want to remember you full of
life, love, spunk, and stupid jokes.

I will always remember you telling me "I have to go - I have people to
do and things to see."

I will always remember that you "have your ducks in a row" and that you were an intentional Christian.

Wally - we love you so much and just simply hate to see you leave us. We don't understand the ways of God, but we trust Him.

I want to remember all the love you went out of your way to give so
freely to others.

I will remember that our daughter Julianne got her name from your suggestion. I will remember always that you said she is "more like you than you are".

I will remember how humble yet such a great leader you are.

I will always, always, remember the way you laugh at your own jokes. I LOVE that about you! You actually think your jokes are funny too - it is so endearing.

I think one thing you may be surprised at when you see Jesus - is that you will be singing HYMNS much more than you liked to here on earth :)

I wish I could put my picture up here that I sent to your email - but I guess it is meant to be private.

LOVE LOVE LOVE you dear Wally~

Wally,
You will truly find you reward in heaven. It has been a comfort to know that through this trial you are resting in the everlasting arms of the Almighty.

Thank you for being unashamed of Christ, the Bill's Dairy Handshakes and the many lessons in generosity.

One night when we were invited along on "Date Night", Wally patiently pointed out not the man in the moonn, rather the "Babe In The Moon".
I think of Wally now whenever I see the moon and will always remind
my grandchildren of the incredible person who saw new shapes in ordinary materials and used all his talents wisely and humbly for the glory of his Creator. Your life will go on and on in our family's story.

Dear Wally,

Thank you for allowing us to slip in and say that we love you. There are no words to express how we feel. You are amazing and showing great dignity--as usual. We would expect nothing less! Be blessed and know that we are thinking of you and your family constantly.

Love you forever,

Beth

Wally~
Thank you so much for opening your doors and allowing us to see you. Your smile, twinkle/wink of your eyes was still the same and speaks the courage that is so much a part of you. Of all the Wallyisms that are you, I will most remember my friend who had a deep abiding love for our Savior. A man who by refinement made his life a mirror to brightly shine the love of our Lord onto others. May my heart always praise my Lord who gives and takes away.
We Love You-
Anthony and Jenessa

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.
-Psalm 143:8

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
-Romans 8:38-39

WALL-E,
Just saw that movie and I loved it because I was thinking of you and all his gadgets. Would love to come up and mix some special Slurpees for you and give Sheri and Debbie a bad time. You'd think they would be used to our, uuhhumm, humor.
I am forever grateful for the time you and Sheri came all the way to Ca. when Deb and I needed a voice of reason (even tho you gave the waitress a bad time about "Herbs" on your food).
Reading the posted remarks only verifies the Man that you are and the servant of God you have been to so many.
We will cherish our friendship with your family always until we meet in God's House and again share a meal.

Your friend,
Bill Mizener

wally, I just read all the comments from each "wallygram" and again I know that I am so blessed to have known you, even for just a year. I thank God everyday that I was able to see you again; honestly I think I might have hijacked a plane to get home. I love you and I could say that again and again but it still wouldn't convey how much.
I am praying for you and for your family. Love always, Maria

Wally-

We Love You.

Isaiah 26:3 tells me that God will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are fixed upon Him because we trust Him. I know where that peace comes from, it is a peace that the world neither has, nor does it understand, it is the peace of God.

I continue to pray that your days be filled with His peace.
