Posted for Sheri...
Hi All,
First I would like to thank you all once again for your prayers and support. We have hit a bit of the down track today on our roller coaster ride. Wally went in for surgery at 8:30 this morning as planned. God answered our prayers by providing us with perfect peace. Unfortunately, once the doctors looked inside they saw that there were several very small metastasis throughout his abdominal wall and therefore were unable to remove the tumor or complete the whipple procedure. They did, however, remove his gallbladder and reroute his stomach – basically gastric bypass surgery without removing any of the stomach. He will be in the hospital approximately 5 days and then come home. We will meet with the Oncologist on Monday to decide how to proceed with the chemotherapy which he will not be able to receive for a month in order to allow his body to heal from the surgery. He continues to be at peace and has a strong will to beat this and for that I am very thankful. If you are scared that he may have lost his sense of humor, don’t worry it’s still there. He told the nurses his name was Frank and that he was 6’4” and wouldn’t miss his gallbladder because he didn’t care too much for it anyway.
Please continue in your prayers for Wally’s healing and for our family. Pray for continued peace and the ability to minister to him.
Also, my computer is frozen so my contacts which I don’t have elsewhere are frozen and I can’t retrieve them at this time and we all know that I am technologically challenged. Please check this blog for updates and leave any messages you would like me to read to Wally.
If there are any doctors out there reading this, I hope I didn’t totally butcher my explanation of what is happening!
James 1:2-3 “I will count it all joy when I fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of my faith produces patience”
Thanks again and keep up the prayers,
Sheri

Hey Wally (or Frank), I read up on the gallbladder and I wasn't that impressed. Seriously, it even sound like a dumb organ "gallbladder". Who named that thing anyway?
Look at it this way, you'll never have to worry about getting gallstones (which according to Wikipedia afflicts up to 25% of all people. So you got that going for ya.
Don't sweat this, lots of us are getting by with some missing equipment and you're definitely still more than the sum of your parts.
Hang in there and I hope to see you very soon.
Dear Wally and Sheri,
We were so glad to get an update and to hear that you will be home with your family in five days. We pray that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. We send our love,
Carter and Paula
Thanks for the update Sheri, we have been waiting for an update, and have been praying all day for both of you. While the news is not what we all had hoped for, this was the Physicians first move. Now we give the Lord and his holy spirit time for their work to begin. May he bless you both while the necessary healing begins.
Both of you just rest, it has been a long and trying day, place this matter into his loving hands because thru him all things are possible.
"May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you all his blessings, and great peace of heart and mind." 1 Corinthians 1:3
All our love,
Scott and Mary
Wow, I hope it is up hill from here. I pray you find rest and continued blessings in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Wally,
You continue to inspire us with your humor and faith. You and Sheri are constantly on our minds and in our prayers here in Snohomish.
Mike and Heidi
Wally - I KNOW if the tables were reversed, and it was I who had their gallbladder removed, you would say something like this to me "Well, you had too much gall anyway!"
We love you and love you.....
Wally,
Well, it's about time your multiple personalities started naming themselves.....we've all know they existed for years!
Well, we never know what might be just around the corner, do we? We love you, are praying for you, Sheri, and the kids, and are here to help in any way possible. We'll come visit you soon, not only because we love you, but because I cannot imagine you remaining sane while in the hospital for 5 days! And yes, we can talk about Pro-Tech........!
Lynn R.
Hey guys,
It is Sat. morning and since we are in a different time zone we just got the update!
If Wally is Frank what is Sheri's new name?
We are praying for you guys and the kids. If there is anything you need call Lynn R. because I am in Cleveland.
You are always in our hearts and prayers!
The girls say hi!
We miss you!
All our love, Don and Letha
Hey Wally and Sheri,
Only 6'4"? In my mind Frank should be at least 7 ft. tall, 'cause I've always looked up to you through our whole friendship! Love and peace to you and your whole family. I'm going to come see you today.
Hang in there,
Scotto
Dear Wally & Sheri,
We love you and are thankful that you had peace and humor through the surgery! We keep you and your family in prayer daily, especially that you may persevere through all the unknowns and that you may continue to cast your burdens on the Lord because He cares for you.
Love, D & L Harrell
Dear Wally and Sheri,
I am technologically challenged also and Wade has told me exactly what to do so here goes.
The news is a little hard to swallow, but know that our God is in charge and we will pray for your quick recovery, Wally and peace. As my grandson said to me one day "Nana, the battle belongs to the Lord." We believe that.
Take care and we will be praying constantly for all of you. We love you. Wade and Janie
I'm so glad for this technology to keep us in touch with you both. Reading what the rest of the fan club says is encouraging to me as well. As I tell our Texas church family here...Wally(benefactor to so many) is a man of "Dickensian" proportions. God always does it huge through you!! I remember how safe you made me feel when my husband fell off the roof. May God wrap you up in that same peace that you bestowed on us. Susie V.
Wally - you always were and always will be Frank :)....very Frank...
May God continue to be your source of all things.
Wally and Sheri,
We are praying for you, Thanks for taking Devon in so many times.
Andy and Cheyenne
Ok, how many connectors did Frank have implanted so that he could keep track of what is going on internally?
I am most impressed first hand what oconolist can do. Very promising.
I continue to hold your hand Sheri as we go through these trials together.

Hi Sheri and Wally,
We love the Wallygram to keep us updated. Your friends are cracking us up with their "too much gall, and who would name something like that anyway" comments. We love yours and their humor and yours and their encouragement in Christ. What a magnificent manifestation of His peace that passes all understanding! We love you and hope to drop by the hospital soon. Your in-laws through Amy, :-) Terri and Fred
Hi Wally, Sheri (and Matt),
We just got the news. You all have been on our minds and in our prayers for the last month or two -now we know why. Our Savior and Lord provides for our every need & we are confident that Wally is going to bless the Lord and bless others while he is going through the next several months.
We love you all, Barb, Brian and Jacob
We are thinking of you all often and continue to keep you all in prayer. He is a big God who works despite us...Praying His peace, joy and healing.
The Tim Vanders
Hi Wally, Sheri and kids.
Kathy Z. just told me the news about your surgery. Wow, it all just seems so sudden, but I am glad that they found it as soon as they did. It makes me happy to know you are keeping such a positive attitude and that your humor is intact. You chose a good name, since we all would like to 'be Frank', wouldn't we??? Your comment about being 6'4" has me a bit puzzled though. Do you think that while they had you on the table, they may have also performed a heightectomy??? Hurry up and call your lawyer! ha ha
Anyway, I know the Lord has great plans for you, Wally, and I pray that he keeps you close, and free from pain thru all of this. Be at peace and know that all will be well. You've never been one to lay down and take it, so I don't suspect this will be any different :o)
On another note, here is my little tidbit of gallbladder wisdom(in case your doctors haven't already warned you)....DON'T EAT CHEESE or FRIED FOODS!!! I am down in CA and have been for 6 weeks caring for my mom who is recovering from colon cancer surgery. They also took her gallbladder while they were in there. No one said anything about what she could and couldn't eat. She is recovering at a rehabilitation facility and about 1.5 weeks after her surgery, they served her a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch. She was in so much pain and it wasn't until we saw the Dr again and asked about her diet that we were told to refrain from cheese and fried foods. The Dr said that since the gallbladder is a storage facility, her body would produce enough bile for most foods, but that it wouldn't be able to store excess bile in order to process very fatty foods. They made it sound like it wasn't such a big deal later on, but was important during the first few months of the healing process. I'm sure your doctors have probaby said something but thought I would mention it just in case, so as to spare you any added discomfort.
Also, aaargghh, don't listen to Lynn. All "Shop talk" should be expressly prohibited....Doctor's orders! After all, you don't need the added stress...ha ha.
I'm sorry to hear that you are all having to go thru this right now, but I have faith that this will just be a very small bump in the road for you, Wally. I hope for a speedy recovery.
Wally - Know that our prayers continue as your path now heads toward treatment! All is well and look forward to talking soon. Blessings, Arnie
Hey, Wally. Do you know what happens if you google "wallygram blogspot"? Google politely asks "Did you mean billygraham blogspot?" I guess if you have to be confused with someone, Billy's a pretty good choice. We are praying for you. Let us know what we can do to help. If you take the bus, look for Carter on the 256. :> Chris
